Hello Parkside Families!
Wow, can you believe we are writing posting our last blog for November?! The months go by so quickly! I want to take a moment since I won’t have another before Thanksgiving to express my gratitude to you. My heart is truly filled knowing that you trust and support our program. We have an awesome job and we are thankful for your relationship. As I celebrate Thanksgiving with my family, you will be one of the many things I am grateful for this year.
Without feeling like I’m rushing time even more; my blog includes information about all of the upcoming dates/events, information about this month’s book fair, Parkside food drive, tuition contract for 2020, as well as information about our pilot for electronic daily notes (kid reports).
I know once Thanksgiving comes, it feels like our calendars are filled with twice the number of events, activities, and things to do! Please take a moment to write down these upcoming events at Parkside! The following weeks are some of my favorite weeks at Parkside! We have been working hard to prepare for the season with all kinds of different surprises as well as activities we can share with you!
Thursday and Friday November 28th and 29th: Parkside is CLOSED for Thanksgiving and the day after!
December 2-December 13th: 2nd annual Parkside Giving Tree! When we come back from our Thanksgiving break, there will be a tree in the lobby that will have tags on it. The tags are items to help local families in our community. If you would like to participate please make sure you bring a wrapped gift with the tag back by the 13th. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
December 9-13th: Parkside cookie making and decorating! Oh, this is one of my absolute favorite things to do! We will be making our own cookies and decorating them later in the day. Parents, are welcome (if you can) to come and join us! Our cooking making will be at 9:30 and our decorating will be around 3:00. Below is the schedule for each classroom:
Monday, 12/9: Olympic
Tuesday, 12/10: Yosemite
Wednesday, 12/11: Big Sur
Thursday, 12/12: Yellowstone
Friday, 12/13: Zion
Tuesday, December 17th: Parkside winter concert! Mr. Aaron has begun practicing our songs during our music class and Miss Gail has begun practicing some literacy activities which we will include as well! The concert is approx. 30 minutes long in your child’s classroom. Below is the schedule:
10:00: Big Sur
Tuesday, Wednesday: December 24th, 25th, 31st and January 1st: Parkside is CLOSED!
Book fair update! Thank you so much to all who donated or purchased a book from our book fair! We hope you enjoyed this opportunity as much as we did! I want to share with you how much your participating helped us! We were able to purchase $541.62 worth of books for our classrooms! How awesome is that?!
Parkside Food Drive update: Wow, our baskets were overfilled with non-perishable items from you! We will be donating these items next week to the local food pantries. Thank you again for your donations!
2020 Tuition contracts: One thing I despise is paperwork!! Please know that if I could skip this step for you I would do it! Unfortunately, every year we need you to review this so that you understand any changes for the upcoming year and to assure the schedule and payment information is accurate for the next year. Please help us to make sure we receive your paperwork by December 13th! If you do not return this paperwork by the 13th, you will miss the opportunity to change your child’s schedule without giving a 30-day notice. If you have any questions please stop by the office!
Kidreports update: This summer we started to roll this new program out in our Yellowstone classroom. This was quite the success for both the families and teachers who participated in it. Therefore, we are going to continue with this pilot by introducing it slowly in our Big Sur classroom in December! Big Sur families, you will be receiving an e-mail from me asking if you would be willing to be part of the pilot group and hopefully by the end of the January the whole class will be enrolled in this program. This is the electronic version of our daily notes; we will ask you to download the app to receive all of the daily updates when you check your child out at the end of the day. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at email@example.com. Our goal is to have all of our classrooms use this system, but I want to make sure it is successful for everyone; therefore, we are taking our time to make sure we get it right!
Reminder: Please be sure your child has all the cold weather gear they need to play outside when they are drooped off, snow pants, jacket, boots hat and mittens. We have taken inventory of our “extra gear” and it is very limited. We go out daily if the temperature is 15degrees and above for preschool and 20 degrees and above for infant toddlers.
I had the awesome opportunity to cook with the Big Sur and Yellowstone classrooms! Can I just say that this is one of my favorite parts of my job! 🙂 This month’s recipe introduced two new items: a bundt cake (which we said it was like a big donut) and a hand-mixer. We are also using spices which we used last month: cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg! We love smelling the scents before pouring them into the batter! Below are the pictures I took; please forgive me I spilled molasses on my phone so the pictures aren’t that clear!
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving,
