Hello Parkside Families!
Welcome to November! This past week is one of my favorite weeks at Parkside! Between the Facebook pages from our costume parade and cooking in the Zion and Sequoia (see the pictures attached to my blog) you can clearly see some of the great moments from the week! November is such a busy month at Parkside! This week’s blog is going to include information about the book fair, food drive, shut down day as well as important information about our outdoor schedules beginning next week!
November 4-November 11th: Scholastic book fair! The books have been delivered and we will be putting them out for display this weekend. All of the books for sale will be displayed in the hallway; you really can’t miss them! We will have a variety of books available for sale appropriate for all of the kids at Parkside. If you would like to purchase a book please bring the item to the office and we will cash you out. If you are paying with a credit card, we will have two clipboards available for you to complete the necessary form for us to run your card (which is different from previous years). We will accept cash, credit and checks to purchase books!
Parkside Food Drive: Through the month of November we will be collecting non-perishable items until Friday, November 22nd. We will have a basket in the lobby for you to place these items in. Please help us to make this drive as successful as last year’s!
Monday, November 11th: Parkside shut down day! Our shut down day will include a day of training for our teachers, but also a time for you to meet with your child’s teachers for a parent/teacher conference. Sign-up sheets are on top of your child’s cubbies to sign-up for a 15-minute conference between 12:45-2:45. We will have child-care available as well. If you are unable to meet during this day, please stop by the office to set up another time.
Thursday and Friday, November 28th and 29th: Parkside is CLOSED for Thanksgiving and the day after
Recess schedule beginning next week: Beginnign next week, the dreadful thought of our precision daylight is going to decrease. Therefore, to make sure both our infant/toddler and preschool classrooms get at least 20 minutes of gross motor time outside we are forced to change the afternoon schedule. Our infant/toddler classrooms will go out from 2:30-3:00 and our preschool classrooms will go out 3:15-3:45. Next week is an adjustment for many of the kids because our napping schedule changes a bit as well as the adjustment of it being dark outside earlier can be difficult for some children. If you have any questions about this change, please talk with your child’s teachers. I have also attached a great link to use to help your child adjust to the time change beginning this Saturday! https://parenting.nytimes.com/sleep/daylight-saving-time
Enjoy your weekend!
