Hello Olympic family and friends!
We have been learning all about fire safety this week. During our story times, we learned about emergency response vehicles, firefighters and paramedics, and also what to do if there is a real fire!
Our work board stations were filled with fun activities to help us learn about being safe around fire. At the science table, we examined a real smoke and carbon monoxide detector. We built a fire engine puzzle that is brand new to our classroom!
We also practiced drawing and planning an evacuation plan (or a safety plan) in Dramatic Play.
In blocks we built a community and played out a fire scene with all emergency personnel. We worked on our number recognition with the game, “Fire Truck Roll n’ Count”.
We also sorted different colors and sizes of math bears. We even practiced making our own patters!
Finally, we challenged our fine motor skills by practicing cutting out a fire engine, and putting it together by following the instructions.
Have a wonderful weekend! Stay tuned next week for our studies about nocturnal animals!
