This week in art class, it was time for part two of our special Mother’s day art projects in the preschool rooms. We started out by looking at some tulip paintings by Judith Leyster. Judith lived during the 1600’s and was the very first female master painter. Most of her works were credited to a male painter until the late 1800’s when her signature was discovered and revealed to be Judith Leyster. We used these beautiful flower paintings as inspiration for our tissue paper flowers – a beautiful addition to our flower pots!
In the toddler rooms, we also viewed Judith’s tulips. Then it was time for some hands-on fun with playdough! Rolling, cutting and shaping the playdough to help work on our fine motor muscles!
